A tour of Shangri-La begins with a brief 7 minute video of the history of the property. Walking in the steps of the past on approximately 6 of the 8.5 acres of property guests enjoy more in depth historical insight. Over 40 species of trees are noted with markers throughout the grounds which include some very rare and seldom seen trees. Oak Creek flows on one side of the property next to the source of the spring which Bonita Springs is named after. This spring on the grounds of Shangri-La is a naturally occurring outpour of mineral water which is said to date back to the Calusa Indians as a sacred place. The tour includes several of the buildings on the property with information of their prior and present use. We will visit areas that are ideal for their beauty and tranquility. The tour ends with a pictorial history which is on display in the Great House and includes photographs and memorabilia from the prior owners.
