About the RED featured artists

Lia Galletti

Lia Galletti

Lia Galletti was born on October 8, 1943 in Havana, Cuba. The eldest of three siblings, she grew up in Havana in a creative environment with her father, also an artist, enriching her artistic path while she watched him work. In 1960, at the age of 17, she left the island with her family and moved to New York where she finished her education and started to paint and exhibit her work in New York's Greenwich Village and other venues on the east coast.

She is an abstract artist and has been developing her individual painting style and technique since 1983, using water under pressure to create different layers.

In 1987 she studied Printmaking within the disciplines of etching, drypoint, linocut, silkscreen and monoprints and received an award at The Boston Printmakers, Brockton Art Museum, Boston, MA. Her work is in their collection, as well as in the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña, San Juan, PR, where she participated at the Latin American Printmakers Biennial of San Juan.

She has participated in solo exhibitions and collective expositions in the US and abroad and her work is in several private and public collections and has sold at Sotheby's New York.

Kara Scofield

Instructor Kara Scofield, also known as "Inara"

Unveil your inner dancing goddess and shake away your stresses with an evening of belly dance. Learn the basic moves of belly dance to more energetically express yourself through music and dance. You'll receive your own coin hip scarf to wear in class and take home with you, to keep you inspired to dance in class and on your own. We'll start with a slow warm up to focus your mind and loosen your body. The beginner-level class will focus on movement isolations, which help increase your flexibility, coordination, and body awareness. Rather than focus on choreography, this class will introduce steps and isolations with short combinations that will allow you to more easily create your own unique, expressive dance from the core moves.

After class, the party begins! Take a moment to relax and absorb what you've learned while being treated to a full belly dance show by instructor "Inara"! After receiving inspiration from the show, everyone is encouraged to get up and dance together in a fun, supportive environment, free of judgement or expectation. Use what you've learned, or just let yourself go. Light refreshments will be available. Feel free to bring your own wine to enjoy responsibly during the evening.

Call (239) 949-0749 to register and pay by phone.
