About the show
SKY is the newest exhibit of artwork at the Historic Shangri-La Springs in Bonita Springs Fl. Don't miss this free and open to the public, artist reception on Wednesday June 8th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. In the summer those who stay in Florida get to enjoy the rich growth and vibrant days of summer. We often find ourselves looking up at the SKY towards the dense cloud-scape and color-show of sunlight fading. For this exhibit we bring the SKY into the cool Great House at Shangri La Springs with the fine art works of Mary Taglieri, Celeste Borah and Michael Monroe.
On this evening celebrating SKY there will be even more than visual art to entice you. Alchymie fills the great house with Native American Flute and Piano. The dining room is open with garden view dinner seating, Interactive food art by our new Chef Pyro and free butterfly card making with Susan Scholle-Martin. Outside under the giant Mysore fig tree is the live dulcimer music of Debo Sylla. In the Longhouse you will find master sidewalk painter Jane Portauppi Durand at work and a free yoga class with Gary Granza from 6:30-7:30. The 8.5 acres of botanically rich Shangri La grounds swell up to the sky and remind you of the power nature has. What better way to celebrate the SKY above us then on the grounds of Historic Shangri La Springs. Don't forget to stop by their beautiful full service Spa.

About the SKY featured artists
Celeste grew up on Long Island and lived in New York City and Northern New Jersey before moving to Southwest Florida thirteen years ago. She received a BFA, in Graphic Arts and Illustration (Fine Arts) from Pratt Institute, and for over 35 years was an art director at advertising agencies and retail outlets in New York, specializing in graphic design, illustration and retail advertising. Always nurturing her talent for Art, she pursued her interest in drawing and painting at Florida Gulf Coast University, where she met her late husband, artist Carl Schwartz.
Celeste has exhibited and won awards at several local art organizations including: the Naples Art Association at the von Liebig, the Center for the Arts in Bonita Springs, the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, the Alliance for the Arts and the Art League of Fort Myers. Celeste's work has also been shown at several galleries from Naples to Ft. Myers, as well as at Florida Gulf Coast University, Physicians Regional Hospital and the Broadway Palm Theatre Gallery.
I am awestruck by the fantastic, extraordinary Southwest Florida skies. I can watch them for hours, or steal a glimpse when stopped at a traffic light for a just few seconds. I am amazed by sunsets, exhilarated by lightning and mesmerized by cloud formations. My objective, in my artwork, is to convey the drama, excitement and impressiveness of the tropical sky by creating compositions that make the viewer sense the enormity and feel the thrill I get when I see these spectacular sights.
Michael Monroe is an abstract artist who focuses on landscapes and seascapes. Michael is known for his bold use of color. His artwork can be found in galleries across the nation, including Aspen, Santa Fe, Boston, Palm Desert and Scottsdale. Michael has recently opened his own studio/gallery in Naples.
One of Michael's greatest achievements was painting luxury grand pianos for Baldwin Piano Company. Michael is Baldwin's only hand painting artist for their luxury grand pianos, the Artist Series. Michael's art is not only represented in galleries, three of his paintings were used in the major motion picture, "Nothing But The Truth" starring Kate Beckinsale, David Schwimmer, Matt Dillon and Alan Alda. Another great accomplishment in Michael's art career was being invited aboard the Oceania Cruise as the "Artist in Residence". Michael toured through Europe for 44 days, aboard the luxury liner, the Marina.
Through Michael's use of vibrant colors and elaborate texture, he creates artwork that is full of expression. According to the artist, his paintings are "the perfect example of unrestricted freedom and spirit".
"Art is the dance of creativity swirled into the physical realm. That creativity is spirit."
MARY TAGLIERI IS AN ARTIST LED BY HER LOVE OF NATURE AND INSPIRED BY A PERSONAL SENSE OF KNOWING HOW BEAUTIFUL ART CAN HEAL. WHETHER IMPRESSIONISTIC LANDSCAPES OF FLOWERING FIELDS OR THE POWERFUL DRAMA OF VOLCANOES AND THE SEA THAT INSPIRE TAGLIERI'S ART, VIEWERS WILL RESPOND TO THE ART THAT HEALS THEM MOST.
ART CAN BRING A SENSE OF HARMONY OR BALANCE, DEPENDING ON THE COLORS, FORMS AND FEELINGS OF A PARTICULAR PAINTING TO WHICH ONE IS ATTRACTED. SOME COLORS CREATE A HIGH SENSE OF ENERGY AND OTHERS CALM. ART KEEPS US IN TOUCH WITH OURSELVES AND OUR SPIRIT.
TAGLIERI'S PAINTINGS RADIATE THE NATURAL BEAUTY OF SOME OF THE WORLD'S MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES WHERE SHE HAS LIVED, FROM ALASKA TO HAWAII, FROM THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTH CAROLINA, THE PEACEFUL VALLEYS OF CALIFORNIA, TO THE COASTLINES OF COSTA RICA AND THE GULFCOAST OF FLORIDA.
MARY TAGLIERI'S 40 YEARS OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE INCLUDE A BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS, GRAPHIC DESIGN, PHOTOGRAPHY, ART DIRECTION, AND COMMERCIAL AND FINE ART. AWARDS AND RECOGNITION HAVE COME TO HER FOR HER PAINTINGS THAT HANG IN PRIVATE COLLECTIONS AROUND THE WORLD.
