About the RED Show

Starting October 8 and ending December 3, Shangri-La celebrates RED through the works of local artists Lia Galletti and Shirley Wilson Blake. We welcome you to an artist reception on Wednesday, October 8th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm – free to the public. Come and be graced with the energies of this artistic night as you walk the historic property. Listen to a live performance of Piano and Native American Flute by Alchymie and Hung Ly. Bring a drum or hula hoop and join our drumming circle under the great Mysore fig trees. Catch a glimpse of the fleeting masterpiece of Jane Portaluppi as she graces the grounds with an 8x8 sidewalk painting. Participate in the Live interactive painting performance by Danielle Branchaud and Cesar Aquilera of Nova Art Studio. We hope you will join us this evening as we gather to honor RED.

Lia Galletti

Lia Galletti

Lia Galletti was born on October 8, 1943 in Havana, Cuba. The eldest of three siblings, she grew up in Havana in a creative environment with her father, also an artist, enriching her artistic path while she watched him work. In 1960, at the age of 17, she left the island with her family and moved to New York where she finished her education and started to paint and exhibit her work in New York's Greenwich Village and other venues on the east coast.

Artist Statement
My paintings are mindscapes where contrasting colors and shapes coexist in tense harmony, much like life itself. I was always interested in painting and, even though I have been interested in other techniques, like printmaking, jewelry and photography, my main interest is painting. Through painting I can express my vision.
