About the FLOWERS & TREES featured artists
Christi makes her living designing and painting trompe l'oeil murals, faux finishes, custom commissioned canvasses and illustrating children's books.
Christi is a native of upstate NY and studied graphic design, sculpture and environmental science at SUNY Buffalo and Empire State College. Inspired by her late sister, Chicago costumer Sue Ennis, (hand-made versions of the Energizer bunny, Illinois Lotto ball characters, Budweiser beer wolf, etc), she became a specialty costume and prop maker, film makeup artist and backdrop painter for such productions as Disney on Ice, American Playhouse series films, feature film "Light of Day" with Michael J Fox, several national touring shows, TV commercials and theatrical productions across the country. She spent 5 years as art director at Rayge Display in Albany NY creating theme party décor and large corporate trade show displays. After successfully completing a commission to paint the areas first "open MRI" in Glens Falls NY to resemble an open-air Adirondack mountain retreat she was flown to Naples to create beach scenes for the second "open" in 1998 and has lived in Southwest Florida ever since, only a kayak ride away from Shangri-La.
Inspiration comes from the perfection of nature and the nature of paint, the drag of the brush across a surface, observing as images appear and change. In those moments of creation there is only the experience of being alive and in the moment.
